Digital Dementia

Learn How To Be Healthy In The Digital Era

These days, you probably know more people with smartphones than without. Most of us would be lost without them! However, posture is declining at the speed of technology.

For most of us, gone are the days of manual labor jobs. Researchers report 80 percent of jobs are sedentary. Between driving to and from work, sitting at a desk while working, and sitting while eating and relaxing, we can easily spend the majority of our days inactive.

Inactivity is linked to numerous detrimental health conditions, and living in the digital era gives us even more reason to be sedentary. However, there are things we can do to improve how we sit to improve our overall health and wellbeing.

During our time together, we will discuss postural design, how to improve posture while at work, and show you examples of healthy posture, which is why we invite you to attend our next event, Digital Dementia , on Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 pm CDT at HarborChase of Plano.

No More Tech Neck

Are you familiar with tech neck? Modern day workers present tech neck on a regular basis. Not only does this affect posture, it can impact cognitive function as well.

Tech neck refers to a looking down posture commonly seen when looking at a cell phone or other screen with your neck flexed forward. Depending on the angle your head is tilted forward, additional weight is being carried by your neck and shoulders. For example, tilting your head at a 60 degree angle is equivalent to carrying a 60 pound weight on your neck!

Forward head posture is one of the most common causes of neck pain, and worse, can lead to chronic postural distortion patterns. Postural misalignment doesn't just harm the spine.

In addition to neck and back pain, poor posture is associated with:
-headaches
-sleep problems
-digestive dysfunction
-bad mood
-foot and wrist pain

Join us for an ergonomic evaluation and posture workshop to improve your postural health to be sure you do not suffer from these health complications yourself!
